IT’S ALMOST TIME TO ENTER WV BEEF EXPO PHOTO CONTEST FOR 2024 INFORMATION FOLLOWS

WV BEEF EXPO 2024 PHOTO CONTEST

We’re hoping that shutterbugs have been snapping photos since Expo 2023 and have them saved, but if not, there’s still time in these early winter months to shoot some great shots to enter. The contest rules are below. 

The photo contest’s purpose is to offer West Virginia youth and adults the opportunity to communicate through creative display a message in photography. The age divisions are as follows: Youth (ages 9-18) and Adult (ages 18 plus). 

A first place prize will be awarded within each category in both age divisions, except the black and white category which will have just one overall winner. Honorable mentions may also be noted. 

All photos will be displayed at the WV Beef Expo, and winning photos will be named there. Photos may be printed in the WV Cattlemen’s newsletters, displays or magazines. 

WV Beef Expo Photo Contest Guidelines

  1. Work must be done by entrant. 
  2. Photos are to be 8x10 inch color or black and white prints mounted on an 11x14 inch black poster board or black foam board. Mount entry form below on the back of the photo board. 
  3. Photos must be taken by the contestant between Beef Expo 2023-24. Photos cannot be altered or image-enhanced in any way. Contestants are encouraged to use a 35mm, digital or cell phone cameras. 
  4. Photo cannot have been presented in any other contest. 
  5. There will be five subject categories each year:
    Beef Cattle (Photos that highlight beef cattle that dominate focus of the photo)
    Farm Landscapes (Focusing on scenery around the farm)
    People In Farm Related Activities
    Other Animals Around the Farm (Not beef animals)
    Black and White Photos of any of the four categories above (No age division...just one overall winner) 
  6. Each entry can be in only one subject category, and entrant is to title the photo. 
  7. A maximum of five entries per contestant is allowed. 
  8. Photos become the property of The WV Beef Expo/WV Cattlemen’s Association and may be used in publications and promotions. 
  9. All entries must be postmarked by the US Postal Service to Krista Hayes by March 30, 2024. Anything postmarked later cannot be judged.
